CULTURE, SOCIAL AND POLITICS, ARE THEY CONNECTED?

We are in a big turmoil.  The culture is going away to be replaced by the “celebrity system”, the social is omitted, the politicians are corrupted and do not listen to the people aspirations any more. What could be the ideal society?

Culture: Human creation and use of symbols and artefacts. Culture may be taken as constituting the “WAY OF LIFE” of an entire society. It is also what you learn at school and during your life.

Social:    Pertaining to human society and/or human interaction in organisations, groups. Concern with or responsible for the mutual relations and welfare of individuals. (Socialà actions, administration, economic, anthropology, banditry, category, change, class, closure, Darwinism, democracy, development, deviance, differentiation, evolution, equilibrium, history, indicators, integration, structure.)

Politics: The process with a state or organisation concerned with influencing the content and implementation of the goals, policies, governing people, etc.

Are those 3 elements connected to each other for a better society? They are connected but do not help to have a better society, the weakest link being the politics.

Is there any interaction between those elements and what are they? There is an interaction between social, culture and politics.  The social environment you live in has been “indoctrinated” by the politics and the culture may have been the head of the social environment.

Is it possible to imagine a nation without politics? It is utopia, however, if a society or nation wants to be without politics, they have to trust better their citizens and have them to really participate and contribute at every level to the society, having various “committees” and strong interaction and information, transparency and no corruption.  I can imagine it without difficulty but it is idealistic and not realistic.

Is the culture creating the social behaviour in a country or vice-versa? I believe the culture is the first mark of the social development and structure of a country.  However, culture changes and evolves so the social history will adapt to the new waves, and reforms will take place.  The social behaviour and social class will also have their stigma on the culture.

AN OPEN WINDOW FOR THE DISCOVERY OF A COUNTRY

I have already visited 56 countries and 12 states in the USA and I currently live in the Highlands of Scotland. Scotland is made of land, lakes and mountains, and, in between, the Great Glen. The Great Glen relies the Atlantic to the North Sea. So, in one day we have different landscapes to photograph for our memory, and I am still curious to discover what is around my little village, Fort Augustus.

When it is not raining, when the sun is shining and when we have the time, John my husband takes me and our West Highland White Terrier, Jack, to discover new towns, cities, villages, and routes.
Travelling in our Shogun car, I can admire the landscape passing by with comfort and nice music.

We can stop when we want, everywhere we want with our 4x4, although it is not too ecological but there is no other way of being a tourist in the Highlands, driving on the wild nature on steep hills, muddy lanes and uncomfortable roads with holes and heaps.

There is always something new to see.  There is always a corner that our eyes did not catch first.  The landscape is the same, however, there is always new pictures to take because the light differs from hour to hour, from summer to winter, because you miss something, or simply because your mood is different.

During these short breaks we also stop at local pubs or restaurants where we can taste various dishes and have fantastic chats with the owners and customers.  This is also another opportunity to know what is around and who are our neighbours or, an open window to broaden my knowledge and satisfy my curiosity.

What do I like most in taking pictures?  It varies and it depends on the place I am. For example, in a garden it will be a specific tree or flower; in a pound it will be a flower or a reflection; in a town it will be people gathering or taken in a specific posture.  Also, I will take pictures of a landscape to show the site or to remember where I have been for my personal album.

Pictures are the open windows for worldwide better knowledge of what is around you.  The world is not so wide!
